The Meadowlight Sisters
Recently, Valentina, a 7th-grade student, wrote a short fairy tale, which she entitled “The Meadowlight Sisters.” I had started a teaching sequence with her in which we explored narrative typology— especially fairy tales —, but not only that: we also worked on grammar topics such as connectors, the simple and continuous past, possessive pronouns and adjectives, among others. During this process, Valentina also realized the importance of writing and rewriting her text, since her knowledge was evolving with each lesson and her story could no longer remain the same. It was a very productive and also enjoyable process, as Valentina was able to see with her own eyes what her creativity and dedication to study could bring to life.
